Glenn Nyberg

Wichita, Kansas - Glenn Eric Nyberg, 63, summitted the highest heavenly mountain on April 20, 2021, and passed peacefully at home after a brave four-year battle with glioblastoma. Born in Des Moines, Iowa, and moving to Wichita at age six, Glenn was a Wichitan through and through. Glenn attended McLean Elementary, John Marshall Junior High and after graduating a proud North High Redskin, attended the University of Kansas where he was a member of the Phi Gamma Delta fraternity and made life-long friendships. In 1975, following in his father's footsteps, Glenn joined IMA as an insurance broker. Shortly thereafter, he ventured to the Boston and Phoenix areas for business, but returned to IMA and after a 33 year long career as a successful producer, retired in 2017. Said best by an IMA colleague, Glenn's knowledge and innovation impacted many as he was one of the first to truly turn the industry's head to take notice of IMA. The professional success Glenn achieved over the years helped others have successes that contributed to IMA being the respected powerhouse it is today.
Glenn had a competitive spirit and was gifted at all sports he enjoyed. He swam for the Wichita Swim Club as well as North High School, was an avid biker, triathlete, fisherman, skier, and especially enjoyed golfing with friends at Rolling Hills Country Club, Wichita Country Club, and Flint Hills National. But, Glenn found his true passion in the mountains where he climbed multiple 14'ers in Colorado and even higher mountains in Ecuador and Mexico which eventually led him to summit Cho Oyu in the Himalaya in 2014, the sixth highest summit in the world. It was in Nepal that Glenn established a relationship with a Sherpa community that resulted in him raising funds to build a health post and small school in the village of Patale and create his non-profit organization, Glenn Nyberg's Nepal Project, Inc.
Throughout his professional career Glenn volunteered for numerous community organizations including Big Brothers & Big Sisters, the YMCA, Wichita Wagonmasters, and served on the board of directors for the Children's Home and the Kansas Humane Society.
Still, of all Glenn's numerous accomplishments and successes, being a dad to Morgan and Erik was the role for which he was most proud. He lived a life that was full of adventure, experiences, relationships, and love. Glenn will be missed, but not forgotten.
Survived by his wife, Camille; children, Morgan (Kevin) Orlando, Erik Nyberg; mother, Diane Nyberg; sisters, Karen Nyberg, Kristi Goetting (Steve); beloved companion, Gracie (chocolate lab); father and mother-in-law, Bobby and Vivian Bribiesca; sister-in-law, Candace (Jason Karageorge) Bribiesca; brother-in-law, Tom Lasater; and preceded in death by father, Daniel Nyberg; sister-in-law, Carla Lasater.
